WATERLOO REGION — Talks continued Sunday in hopes of averting a transit strike that would leave the region’s bus riders stranded Monday morning.
Negotiators for the Region of Waterloo and the union that represents more than 600 Grand River Transit and MobilityPlus workers began talking at noon Sunday.
But by press time, after seven hours of talks, there was still no resolution. Workers could go on strike as early as midnight Sunday night.
People who use Grand River Transit were advised to make other plans for getting around in case of a strike.
Information about transportation alternatives and labour updates are available on the Grand River Transit website at www.grt.ca — or by calling the GRT information line at 519-585-7555. Press 4 to speak to a customer service agent, available 24 hours a day.
Unifor Local 4304 represents 644 drivers, service attendants and skilled workers at Grand River Transit. Workers have been without a contract since January 1.
