GRT strike averted after last minute agreement
Buses run Monday morning as both side look to ratify tentative agreement

Negotiators worked through a midnight deadline this morning to reach a tentative agreement between the Region of Waterloo and unionized Grand River Transit employees to prevent a disruption of service.
Bus driver, dispatchers, mechanics and service attendants were part of the negotiations that could have caused transit chaos Monday morning. Instead both sides reached at tentative agreement at 2:33 a.m. in the morning to keep the buses running.
Details of the agreement weren’t released pending ratification.
Region of Waterloo council and UNIFOR Local 4304 Grand River Transit/MobilityPLUS still have to ratify the agreement. Ratification dates have yet to be set.
