Collective Agreement and King Street Constraints Update

Collective Agreement and King Street Constraints Update

Brothers and Sisters,

Just a brief update on a couple of things that we have been asked about…

There were some issues that members of the Bargaining Committee brought up during a meeting with management back in June related to Dept 2. language and some “clerical” errors in Dept. 1 Language in the new CBA. Those issues are being addressed by our National Rep. Tim Mitchell and Regional head of HR. Matthew Sutcliffe.  A meeting will be arranged shortly to settle these issues and we will push to have our new CBA printed quickly.

There are concerns regarding to Route 7’s on King St. and what drivers are to do when they are approached by emergency vehicles. Management has asked that we follow the Highway Traffic Act and procedure at this time is to pull over and stop upon their approach. This is the only direction they are willing to give us. They inform us that they will be having meetings with different emergency services, GrandLinq and Transportation Services to try and address some of the concerns with the lack of space on King St. Unfortunately this is all we have to go with right now.
